Students at Worthgate School have achieved excellent results in the 2026 Coding Challenge run by the Raspberry Pi Foundation, a global organisation dedicated to improving computing education and developing digital skills for young people.
The challenge is designed to extend students beyond the classroom curriculum, encouraging them to apply their coding knowledge to real-world problem solving using programming languages and tools such as Blockly, Python and C. It also develops key skills including logical thinking, creativity, accuracy and resilience under timed conditions.
Building on their participation in the Bebras Computing Challenge, Pre-A Computing and Grade 10 Computer Science students were supported through structured preparation sessions, targeted practice and guided problem-solving activities. This approach enabled students to strengthen their understanding of computational thinking while building confidence in applying their skills independently.
The results reflect both individual excellence and strong overall cohort performance. Minsu achieved an outstanding national ranking of 23rd in his age group, earning two Gold awards and a Best in School certificate. Helia and Bintou were also recognised with Best in School awards, highlighting consistency and commitment across the group.
These achievements demonstrate Worthgate School’s ongoing focus on developing digital fluency, analytical thinking and problem-solving skills. Through opportunities such as this, students are encouraged to apply their learning in meaningful, real-world contexts, building strong foundations for future study and careers in computing, engineering and other STEM-related fields.
