We understand that the wish to attend a top UK university is a dream of many young people. To Worthgate School students the best advantage when applying to university, we have developed an enhanced package of application support that ensures students are fully prepared for the university application process and for their chosen future career. We work closely with every student to discover the path that best suits them and give them confidence in selecting the best university for them.
Progression Agreements
We have agreements with over 40 UK universities to give you the confidence that you can progress to a leading institution upon successfully meeting academic and English language level entry requirements.
Unlimited Support
Our staff are always on hand to answer your questions and provide advice on the university process. If you are unsure of anything, you can meet with your Personal Tutor or the Higher Education Advisor outside of timetabled hours and feel confident that you are always supported.
Personal Statement Guidance
Our Personal Tutors have extensive experience of university admissions and know what will make your application stand out. Your Tutor will dedicate time to getting to know you and your interests to ensure that your personal statement is the best reflection of you.
Visits from Universities
We also have regular visits from universities to our campus and over 100 universities visited last year. These visits provide you with useful insight to the university admissions process.
University Fairs and Events
Worthgate students have access to our exclusive University Fair where over 70 universities attend including the University of Cambridge, the London School of Economics and Imperial College London, as well as world-leading US and Canadian universities. This event gives students a valuable opportunity to talk directly to University Admissions Teams about their degree programmes, locations and specific entry criteria.
We also run an annual Oxbridge Applications and Admissions online event. Featuring expert guidance from Oxbridge academics and admissions tutors, alumni who are now at Oxbridge and academic staff from across our school group who have overseen many successful undergraduate application
Empowering Students at Every Step
Within every academic year, Worthgate students receive bespoke specialist advice and
guidance to support their academic and career aspirations.
Year 11 students receive advice and guidance that focuses on developing career pathways and gain understanding of the requirements of specific careers in pathways such as Computer Science, Business Management, Social Science, Medicine or Creative subjects, amongst others. At this level we work to enhance students’ understanding of their next steps through our progression events, individual advice and guidance into A Level and International Baccalaureate qualifications.
In year 12 our University Scholars Programme introduces first year A Level and IB students to the world of Higher Education and University study, preparing students to apply for the most competitive programmes such as Medicine, Law, Architecture and the Oxbridge process. The programme also focuses on academic preparation, creating pathways and career guidance to ensure students are setting targets to reach their academic potential in preparation for application in their final year of study.
Graduating students studying IB, A Level or UFP qualifications receive unlimited support from the Director of Higher Education to complete their applications to the best possible standard. Alongside group sessions to receive advice on university research, entry requirements and application success, our students benefit from individual support to complete application to the UK, US, Europe and around the globe.
The Worthgate Futures Programme
Our exclusive career education programme is designed to develop career relevant skills and knowledge to guide their future pathway to university and beyond. Students can choose from a vast range of electives to complement their academic timetable that develop their interests, passion and super-curricular skills.
This exciting programme gives Worthgate students skills and experiences that go beyond the typical school curriculum and allow our students to stand when applying for university and in their future career path.
