Mental Health Awareness Week 2024

Last week was Mental Health Awareness Week and the theme this year was Movement.

The Mental Health Foundation are campaigning to encourage people to move more for their mental health. Exercise has a huge positive impact on peoples mental and physical health. It releases “feel good” hormones that boost your mood while reducing stress and anxiety.

We take mental health seriously at The Worthgate School as we know that our students and staff do their best work when they feel good. We ran a series of activities and events during Mental Health Awareness Week to show our support and promote positive mental health.

Wear It Green

On my 16th students and staff throughout our school dressed in green to show their support for mental health awareness week. Traditionally a green ribbon is used as the symbol of mental health awareness and wearing one shows you are someone who supports good mental health for all. Wear it green day echoes this message.

Our students decorated and sold delicious cakes and cookies too raise money for mental health charities. They also took steps to look after their own mental health and get moving by going on a wellbeing walk.

Mental Health Awareness Week was a reflective and informative occasion here at The Worthgate School.

Inspire. Empower. Achieve.

At The Worthgate School students are empowered and given the support they need to look after their mental health as this helps ensure they are able to achieve their full potential.
