Careers in Medicine
For students who want to explore the different career options in Medicine. Learn about the huge variety of medical careers from nursing and neuroscience to psychology and physiotherapy. You will gain an understanding of university applications as well as the requirements needed for UKCAT and BMAT the medical school entrance exam

COURSE OVERVIEW
The course will be delivered through a combination of lessons and practical workshops that will allow students to develop their theoretical knowledge and its associated practical applications. Lessons will cover themes such as disease, genetics, the immune system and how drugs effect the body. Participants will complete a first aid course and attend a laboratories and forensics workshop. The course will also include a Science Create Award Silver project which is designed to stretch students and enrich their STEM studies. Students will develop their own medical project idea and use their communication, problem solving and teamwork skills.
PROGRAMME OUTCOMES
Develop communication, problem solving and teamwork skills by addressing a real-world challenge as part of the Science Crest Award
Gain an understanding of the different careers in Medicine from Doctor and Dentist to Vet and Optometrist
Develop practical skills and knowledge in the subjects of biology, chemistry and physics through lessons in English
Understand the requirements needed for UKCAT and BMAT medical school entrance exams through exam coaching and practice
Have a better understanding of what is required to create a competitive application to medical school
ACTIVITIES & EXCURSIONS
One full-day excursion per week is included. Destinations may include London, Brighton or Cambridge. The onsite activities programme is both fun and varied and has something that will interest both creative and sporty students alike. Each day will end with an energetic evening activity which encourages students to socialise with their new international friends. Evening activities are varied and fun and may include discos, talent shows and international evenings.
Model United Nations
For students who are interested in international relations with the curiosity and courage to challenge and be challenged! The course culminates in a simulated United Nations conference where students assume the roles of delegates of member states and discuss solutions to current issues.

COURSE OVERVIEW
Our Model United Nations course provides a unique and exciting opportunity to explore the world of international affairs in an engaging and interactive way. Participants will build up a portfolio of work during the course by collating information regarding their assigned country, carrying out issue research, creating an opening speech and generating discussion points. The course will look at a range of topical areas from the disciplines of history, politics, law, economics, geography, psychology and science- engaging students who have a wide range of interests. The course will include lectures, group work to discuss issues raised and build and develop viewpoints, as well as Independent study where students have time to build a portfolio and work on individual speeches . The course will also include educational visits such as a trip to a local university or the British Library for research. The programme will end with a final United Nations conference.
