We are pleased to share that The Worthgate School has been shortlisted for the ISA Award for Excellence and Innovation in Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion. This recognition is due to our outstanding student-led Diversity Committee.
Established in 2020, the committee has become an integral part of our school and been a driving force for positive change. It was created in response to our students’ enthusiasm for celebrating multiculturalism. The committee organises student-led activities that foster inclusivity among students from different backgrounds, while also educating their peers on critical issues. The committee’s impact extends beyond our school walls, as they have previously collaborated with the Canterbury Commemoration Society and our sister schools to promote diversity and inclusion on a wider level.
The ISA Awards have long been a beacon of recognition for schools that go above and beyond to provide exceptional education to their students. With 646 member schools in the Independent School Association, our shortlisting is a testament to all our students and staff who champion equality, diversity, and inclusion in our school community.
Ian Gross, Principal of The Worthgate School, expressed his gratitude, saying:
"Being shortlisted for an ISA Award is a tremendous honour for The Worthgate School. Our student-led Diversity Committee has inspired understanding, tolerance, and growth, creating an environment where every voice is heard, every perspective is valued, and every student is empowered to thrive and achieve. I am proud of their accomplishments and delighted for this well-deserved recognition."
At The Worthgate School, we understand the pursuit of excellence is an ongoing journey. Being shortlisted for this award is a great achievement and it is also a reminder of the ongoing commitment required to maintain and exceed the high standards we have set for ourselves.
The winners of the ISA Awards will be announced during the ISA Autumn Study Conference in November. We are eagerly awaiting the ceremony.
