Dr Ian Gross has been appointed Principal of The Worthgate School, part of the CATS Global Schools Group, assuming the permanent position from September 2023.
Over the last 15 years, Ian has held several senior academic leadership positions at schools worldwide, including Bahrain, Thailand, Egypt, Argentina, and, most recently, Malaysia. He joins with in-depth knowledge of delivering GCSE, A Level, and International Baccalaureate programmes to international students.
Ian holds a Doctorate in Education (EdD), an MA in Educational Leadership and Management, both from the University of Bath, and a PGCE Secondary Science from the University of Greenwich.
Talking about his appointment, Ian says:
“I am honoured to have been appointed as Worthgate School’s next Principal. Worthgate School is clearly a special place, with an unrelenting focus on inspiring and empowering students to achieve greatness. I look forward to meeting staff, students, parents and partners and being part of the international community. I cannot wait to move with my family to Canterbury later in the year.“
Craig Wilson, Managing Director School of CATS Global Schools, adds:
“I am delighted to welcome Ian to the CATS Global Schools family. He has an impressive track record and stood out in the recruitment process because of his belief in fostering an ethos of global citizenship while celebrating cultural diversity with an international perspective, which is very much in line with Worthgate School’s vision.“
Ian starts on 1 September 2023, taking over the reins from Acting Principal Nicola Robinson.
Craig adds:
“I’d like to thank Nicola for providing an essential role in providing stability and continuity for the remainder of the school year.
I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Severine Collins, who recently left to take up an Executive Principal promotion at another school’s group, for her contribution. Firstly, as Vice Principal of The Guildhouse School London and most recently as Principal of Worthgate.
She leaves a legacy of success, with the school winning over 15 awards and competitions in the last three years. Most recently, the Independent Schools Association award for “Excellence and Innovation in Mental Health and Wellbeing.”
