In the wood panelled Gulbenkian Theatre at the University of Kent, 155 students from The Worthgate School received their graduation certificates, in recognition of all of the hard work they have put in during their time at the school.
A Level, UFP, Academic English, GCSE and pre-GCSE students alike gathered alongside Acting Principal Nicola Robinson, teachers, and school staff to celebrate everyone’s achievements over this year at The Worthgate School.
Dr Sarah Johns, Reader in Evolutionary Anthropology at the University of Kent, gave the keynote speech. Two of our alumni, Rron Shehu and Martin Dervishaj, returned to The Worthgate School to also give speeches. Our inspiring guest speakers reminded students that while graduation marks the end of their time at The Worthgate School the future is eagerly awaiting them. If they proceed with positivity, passion and a willingness to work hard there isn’t anything they can’t do.
Over the course of the evening 37 awards were handed out to students, recognising their exceptional achievements. This included the Student Agent of Change Award, which went to Jun Ru Ng. The award recognises when a student has embodied The Worthgate School’s characteristics and values, and their contributions to the school community and beyond.
We enjoyed performances from lots of talented students. Members of the Glee Society gave individual musical performances and Servval, one of our graduating students, read the poem ‘My First Days at Worthgate’, written by fellow student Livia.
